Ben Affleck’s wife, Jennifer Lopez, joined him to watch his youngest daughter Seraphina’s school play. Affleck’s ex-wife Jennifer Garner also attended the performance.
Online users blasted Lopez for her choice of outfit for the occasion. Garner, who was casually dressed, shined without makeup.
Garner and Affleck did not interact, but a source revealed there isn’t any bad blood between them.
Jennifer Lopez dressed impeccably and made sure all eyes were on her when she and Ben Affleck attended the actor’s youngest daughter Seraphina’s school play. However, online users bashed Lopez and said her outfit wasn’t appropriate for the event.
Affleck’s ex-wife Jennifer Garner also attended the performance but kept her presence low-key in a casual look. She kept it basic with mom jeans and sneakers, complemented by a T-shirt and a simple black jacket.
In contrast, Lopez was dressed in a ruffled red maxi dress styled with patent leather platform heels. She completed the look with a purse that matched her dress. Her signature blonde hair flowed freely to her mid-back.
Meanwhile, Affleck was in black as he walked ahead of Lopez who followed behind him with her son Maximilian, 15, and a friend donning a tiara.
The blended family had a fun time interacting with each other. The “Hustlers’ star chatted with Affleck’s eldest daughter Violet, who towered over her despite wearing flat sneakers.
Although Lopez and Garner reportedly did not interact during the event, the “Out of Sight” actress seemed comfortable and chatty with her stepchildren. At some point, Lopez and her 17-year-old stepdaughter Violet wrapped their arms around each other, which showed how close and affectionate they were with each other.
Seraphina was also spotted wearing red cargo shorts and a denim jacket. She came out of the theatre holding two bouquets.
Online users who saw Lopez’s outfit blasted and accused her of attempting to outshine her stepdaughter at the event:
“That is like wearing white to a wedding! Come on, let the girl shine, and do not call attention to yourself!!!!! OMGOSH!”
One person said the mother of two was incapable of letting other people’s light shine. “It was her stepdaughter’s night,” they added. “Jennifer’s dress was a bit much for the event,” another online user commented.
A different social media user said it was “sad” that Lopez wore her outfit to take away attention from her stepdaughter, while another criticized the actress, writing:
“Lol, she’s extra. I guess she has to be the center of attention. I hope she didn’t show up for her kid’s plays like that; so embarrassing.”
Many others were not impressed by Lopez’s gorgeous outfit as they said it drew all eyes on her and none on her stepdaughter. “What a ME, MY & I,” one person said.
Lopez and Affleck, who previously dated between 2002 to 2004, will celebrate their first wedding anniversary on July 16, 2023.
Despite Garner and Lopez not interacting during Seraphina’s school play, a source revealed that there isn’t any bad blood between them.
Affleck’s three kids all attended their father’s wedding to Lopez. They joined Lopez’s twins, Maximilian and Emme, as they walked down the aisle behind the actress.
An insider said Garner and Lopez have a cordial relationship and are actually bonding now that they are co-parenting. “They’ve been getting to know each other better and have formed a very new friendship,” the insider added.
The source also said Lopez and Garner really enjoy each other and that the “Peppermint” actress cannot believe just how sweet Lopez is to her kids.
Meanwhile, Lopez also opened up and said she, Garner, and Affleck were handling their blended family well, taking it one step at a time.
She praised the former spouses for their drama-free split and commended the “Daredevil” star for being an amazing co-parent. “They work really well together,” Lopez said, before acknowledging that split-ups are never easy for kids:
“The transition is a process that needs to be handled with so much care. They have so many feelings. They’re teens. But it’s going really well so far.”
Lopez hoped the children would view their stepparents as allies and as people who love and care about them. The actress noted that the stepparents should also welcome each other as people with different perspectives who can help one another see things about their kids that they wouldn’t have noticed because they are emotionally tied up.
Affleck’s blended family seemed to have worked well from the start, as a source revealed that Garner gave Lopez her approval to marry Affleck.
Recently, the “Shotgun Wedding” star said her home with Affleck has become a safe space for the blended family to come together and be passionate and vocal about different political and social issues.
As a parent, Lopez didn’t want her kids to fear her but to find an ally in her. She also admitted that as much as her kids learn from her, they also teach her:
“But at the end of the day, they wind up teaching you so much and reminding you of the things you need to know about life and how to love somebody and how to care for people, that in your 20s and 30s, as you’re doing your own thing, you can lose sight of.”
After Lopez and Affleck gave their relationship another chance, they started spending time with each other’s kids to blend their families together. Affleck’s daughters even accompanied them on their honeymoon to Paris alongside Lopez’s kids.
Garner and her ex-husband were married for over a decade before they separated in 2015. They started their divorce process in 2017 and finalized it in 2018. Over the course of their marriage, they welcomed three kids together—Violet 17, Seraphina, 14 and Samuel, 11.
